EFFI-CYCLE

EFFI-CYCLE is an intercollegiate design competition for under graduate and graduate engineering students where the teams have to design and fabricate an energy efficient Hybrid-human powered three-wheeled-electric vehicle. The vehicle must be aerodynamic, highly engineered, safe and ergonomically designed. The design should be commercially viable as a product and should be attractive to the consumers because of its visual appearance, performance, reliability and ease of operation. It provides an opportunity for engineering students by setting up a trend of using eco-friendly vehicles.

This time, three teams namely team MVSR ATOM, team CONTRIVERS and team Trikut from MVSR Engineering College participated in the virtual round of EFFI-CYCLE 2013 held on 13th July 2013 at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Banglore.  Out of three teams, team Trikut got selected for the final event of EFFI-CYCLE , conducted at University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Chandigarh from 10th – 13th October, 2013.

It’s happy news to share for MVSR Engineering College  that team Trikut are in top 30 teams of EFI-CYCLE 2013 final results that were announced on 19th October, 2013.The team, faculty advisor and visitors who accompanied team Trikut to Chandigarh include: Sai Kiran Reddy.Y, Lakshman Karra, Nikhil Boin, Vishnu Priya.K, Akshitha.M, Sravani .N, Ragini Thurpathi, Joel Swaroop Raj, Pallavi.M, Avanika Thumiki, Sudha Chandra Masna, Praneeth Tagaram and Asst. Proff Pandarinath.M

The first day in the event was stated as a zero day where teams have to register and start working on their vehicle if any. Separate pits were given to the teams on the Zero day, only after their registration is done and teams who have registered were allowed to use the workshop for the final touch up of their vehicles during the event. The first day was a test for static events where ‘Go no go’ test for the dimension, ‘Break Test’, ‘Figure of 8 Test’, ‘Design Validation’ and ‘Slogan exhibition’ were conducted. The second day of the event was the dynamic day. On this day ‘Acceleration Test’ , ‘Utility Test’ ,’Static Design’ ,‘Dynamic Design Validation’ ,’Innovation’ , ‘Rule Book Validation’ and “Marketing Presentation’ were checked . A ‘Tech OK’ sticker was given to the teams only if the vehicle satisfies all the points of the rule book and only after getting a ‘Tech OK’ sticker the vehicle is liable to participate in the main race, the very next day. All the vehicles that got the sticker participated in the race where the vehicles have to take lapse of 2kms and run them for two and a half hours on an uneven path including mud pits.  After the race got over the vehicles were re-tested for their endurance and design by the technical committee members and the final list is submitted for the results. The top 3 teams along with few other prizes were announced on the same day itself while the rank cards were released a week later.

Wish this experience will inspire many other students to take part in competitions as such which improve the practical knowledge of a student and help them in mere future.
