The Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities was established in the year 1981.The Department offers Courses in Sciences and Humanities to the 1st year students of the BE program.
In addition, the department offers Mathematics, Managerial Economics and accountancy courses to the 2nd & 3rd year students of the BE program. The present intake of students at the first year level (in the branches of CIVIL, CSE, ECE, EEE, MECH, IT, AUTO) is 870.The department is situated in two buildings. It has a team of 43 well qualified, committed and experienced teaching staff members including 8 doctorates and 16 supporting staff members.
The department has well equipped Physics, Chemistry, English and Computer programming laboratories situated in both the buildings of the department.
The aim of the first year instruction is to equip the students to apply the knowledge of basic sciences and humanities in understanding the core engineering subjects.
Besides the primary job of teaching, the faculty have been publishing research papers in several national and international journal of repute and have also authored several text books.
