Two Day Workshop on
Data Mining Using WEKA tool
Department of Information Technology and Department of Computer Science and Engineering in collaboration with Computer Society of India-MVSR Student Chapter organized a two-day workshop on Data Mining using WEKA tool on 23rd & 24th January 2015. The main objective of the workshop was to provide hands-on familiarity with WEKA tool in an on-going process of data analyzing and data mining. This program was aimed at enhancing the knowledge in data mining so that more number of students can implement the projects in this field. There was an overwhelming response from both student and faculty fraternity. (Students and Faculty of MVSR and outside.)
The Inaugural session was presided by Dr. G. Kanaka Durga, Prof & Head, IT Dept, Prof. Prasanna Kumar, Head, CSE Dept, Mr.Ashwini Kumar, Associate Prof, IT Dept and Dr. Sameen Fatima, Prof & Dean, Faculty of Informatics, Osmania University graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
On the first day of workshop, Dr. Sameen Fatima covered overview of Data Mining in the keynote address, followed by Data Analysis by V.Ashwini Kumar, Associate Prof, Understanding of Data by D.Fatima, Associate Prof, IT dept and hands-on on WEKA tool and its importance given by Sesham Anand, Associate Prof, CSE dept. On the second day D. Fatima covered hands-on pre-processing followed by Classification by Dr. Sandhya, Associate Professor, CSE Dept, Association Rule Mining and some research ideas on data mining by Dr.A.V.Krishna Prasad, Associate Professor, IT Dept, Hands-on Classification by Mr.Ramana, Assistant Professor, CSE dept and Hands-on Experimenter and Knowledge flow by Sesham Anand, Associate Professor, CSE dept.
A Mining project contest was announced for the participants. Top two projects would be awarded with attractive prize and appreciation certificate. The participants gave very good feedback and still interacting with faculty for submitting the implementation of mining applications on weka tool for Mining Project Contest. The last date for the submission is 04.02.2015.
The valedictory function is presided by Hon’ble Principal Prof. P.A.Sastry, Dr.G.Kanaka Durga,Head, IT Dept, V.Ashwini Kumar, IT Dept, Dr.A.V.Krishna Prasad, IT Dept and Dr Sandhya, CSE Dept. Participation certificates were distributed to the participants by Principal. The Workshop ended with Vote of Thanks by Dr.Sandhya.
